About me

When asked where I am from, putting aside those who want to know where I am really from (hint: it’s still the United States), I typically say, “Nashville, but my parents are from the Philippines.” As the first child of Filipino immigrants to the United States, I’ve lived in an ever-diverging cultural environment. I grew up seeking experiences and activities that allowed me to explore the world around me, to find people who were different like me, and to feel like I belonged. My desires all eventually found a home in the arts and social justice.

In college, I was grateful to explore my different interests further—I performed in shows like A Little Night Music, I taught at El Sistema, an after-school music program for under-resourced communities in Oklahoma City, and interned in Oklahoma’s only refugee resettlement office. These experiences helped me cultivate my goal as an artist: I want to tell stories that helps us understand ourselves and our neighbors better. In my senior recital I was able to combine my love for the arts and social justice with a set that I arranged, called “Songs with Social Significance.”

To read more about the songs involved, see my program notes.

Nowadays, I am based in NYC. When I’m not working on my craft, you can find me learning more about my Catholic faith, going on outdoor adventures (preferably with dogs), or working on my olympic weightlifting form.

Let’s find a coffee (or boba) shop—I’d love to chat!
